Why less damage is creepier
Push the slider to 10 and people read it as a rendering bug. Their brain files it under broken software and moves on. Keep it at 2 or 3 and they read the words normally, then notice something is off about them. That gap is where the effect lives.
It is the same reason a slightly wrong face is more unsettling than an obviously fake one. Recognisable first, wrong second.
Where the light version wins
Short fields are the obvious case. A TikTok bio gives you 80 characters and an Instagram bio gives you 150, and heavy stacking burns through both before you have finished a sentence. At intensity 2, a ten-letter phrase costs roughly 30 characters, so you can still write something.
It also holds up better across devices. Every operating system draws combining marks with its own font engine, and the taller the stack, the further the results drift apart. Two or three marks per letter look close to identical on an iPhone, a Pixel and a Windows laptop. Twenty marks do not.
If even light stacking gets stripped, use the one-tap styles in the generator. A single strikethrough or underline mark per letter reads clearly, costs one character per letter, and almost never gets filtered.
Using it for Halloween and horror posts
A pattern that works: plain text carrying the meaning, one creepy phrase carrying the mood. Glitch the name of the event, the punchline, or a single repeated word. Leave the rest alone so people can actually read what you are telling them.
For captions and comments you have thousands of characters to spend, so you can move up to Glitch or Corrupted without worrying. Save the full zalgo treatment for the places where nothing needs to be legible.
What it will not do
It will not change your font, and it will not survive being retyped by hand. It also will not get through a field that only accepts ASCII, like a Discord username or most sign-up forms. Those reject the characters outright rather than filtering them, and no intensity setting changes that.

Restraint. One or two marks per letter reads as something wrong with the signal. Twenty marks per letter reads as a rendering bug. The Subtle and Glitch presets sit in the range where the words still feel like words, which is what makes them unsettling.
Which creepy style works best for a Halloween post?
Lower intensity in a bio, higher in a caption. Bios are short and heavily filtered, so a light effect survives. Captions have room, so you can push to Corrupted and still have every character land.
Can I use creepy text in a YouTube video title?
You can paste it, and it usually displays. YouTube truncates titles around 100 characters in search results though, and combining marks eat that budget fast. Keep the effect to one or two words rather than the whole title.
